This beautiful and magnificent palm is native to the mountain forests of Thailand, Burma, and Malaysia. It forms a dense crown with very large, flat, and round leaves that are only slightly divided, and a long, columnar, gray trunk. The large seeds germinate easily, and the plants are suitable for a wide range of climates, from temperate to tropical. It is rarely seen in cultivation but has enormous potential as an outdoor plant. Livistona speciosa is similar to Livistona jenkinsiana.
