An unusual-looking, multi-stemmed palm reaching a maximum height of 6 m, featuring slender, flat, and evenly pinnate leaves with glossy white undersides; it grows at considerable altitudes of 2,000–2,150 m and tolerates snowfall and severe frost in its native habitat, making it undoubtedly the most cold-hardy *Arenga*. It is an excellent palm for cool-house cultivation, accustomed to moist, mild summers and cold, dry winters, and prefers nutrient-rich soil and occasional fertilization.
