A medium-sized palm from the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, bearing upward-pointing to curved leaves with large, fishtail-shaped leaf segments. The new leaves are initially a beautiful red to bronce. It resembles P. caryotoides, but can be easily distinguished by its more robust growth habit and its red, rather than purplish-black, fruits. A beautiful palm that, like most Ptychosperma, is also well-suited for indoor cultivation.
