A large, solitary palm widely distributed in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Its thick, short trunk is densely covered with coarse, black leaf sheath fibers and supports a large, upright crown with flat leaves that are dark green on top and silvery underneath, reaching a length of up to 8 meters. It germinates quite reliably, but not for at least 12 months! Once the seedling stage is over, it grows very quickly and easily.
