This medium-sized fan palm is native to three islands of Vanuatu in the southwest Pacific. There, it grows in coastal forests or lowland rainforests, forming dense stands. It develops a slender, solitary trunk up to 5 meters tall and a spreading crown of large, circular fan-shaped leaves. These leaves are divided into several broad, wedge-shaped segments down to the base. One could also say it is a Licuala grandis with divided fans. In cultivation, it requires similar conditions.
