A large, solitary-stemmed *Pinanga* reaching heights of up to 15 m, native to the lowland rainforests of the Moluccas and New Guinea. Its crown consists of short-stalked leaves measuring 2 to 3 m in length. A striking feature is the long, green crownshaft, which is covered in reddish-brown scales. It is also a fantastic palm for indoor cultivation while young.
