This variant of Areca vestiaria is in contrast to the red variant a solitaire palm and forms striking stilt roots. The relatively broad leaflets are serrated at the tips. Loves a shady location and nutrient-rich soil. All in all, Areca vestiaria is definitely a worthwhile alternative to the much sought-after Cyrtostachys renda, as it is less demanding and yet equally attractive.
