This is a multi-stemmed hybrid between the highly sought-after *Cyrtostachys renda* and *Cyrtostachys elegans*. The leaf sheaths and upper stem sections glow in shades ranging from bold red to orange-red—slightly paler than those of the pure *Cyrtostachys renda*—and often display fine speckling or marbling reminiscent of apple skin, a characteristic that gives this cultivar its name. The narrow, dark green leaflets arch outwards, forming a light, feathery canopy. As this form is rare in cultivation—circulating primarily among specialist growers and within botanical collections—"Apple" is considered a collector's item and a magnificent specimen for truly tropical gardens.
