Licuala petiolulata is a rare, small fan palm native to the rainforests of Sarawak on Borneo (Malaysia). It features a short trunk up to 2 meters tall and distinctive, circular fan leaves with narrow segments; the central segment is notably narrow at its base. It is a slow-growing understory palm. The fan leaves measure up to 1 meter in diameter and consist of approximately 20 segments. It thrives in shade to partial shade and requires a warm, very humid location—avoiding direct sunlight entirely. The growing medium should be rich in humus, well-draining, and kept consistently moist.
