Although *Chrysalidocarpus titan* is closely related to *Chrysalidocarpus bejofo*—sharing similar overall growth habits and nearly identical (albeit larger) seeds—they differ in significant details. Most notable are the much broader leaflets, which give the fronds a much fuller appearance, and the strikingly colorful crownshaft. Seedlings initially have simple, undivided leaflets. Germination is very sporadic, and growth is a slow process; the sheer massiveness of the seedling in all its parts is remarkable.
