Chamaedorea sartorii is native to the understory of the rainforests of the southeastern Mexican states of Veracruz, Puebla, and Oaxaca, extending into Honduras. It grows there at elevations of 100 to 1300 m. It has a thin, solitary trunk up to 4 m tall and a small crown of evenly pinnate leaves with only a few broad, slightly sickle-shaped, glossy green leaves with a very uneven leaf surface. It is easily cultivated in warm temperate and tropical regions.
