This previously undescribed species from Papua New Guinea resembles Ptychosperma pullenii in many aspects and also shares its attractive red coloration on its new leaves.A striking difference, however, is that the leaf tips are not "fishtail-shaped."Also unusual are the black, ripe seeds.
