This very rare and beautiful palm grows on the Micronesian islands of Pohnpei and Kosrae, which belong to the Caroline Islands. Individual specimens and small populations are scattered in the lower-lying forests. An elegant, slender, and fast-growing palm, it is closely related to Ptychosperma and should therefore also thrive indoors. Its fruits are edible, so it is sometimes cultivated in home gardens.
