A medium-sized, clustering palm species native to the rainforests of the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra, found at elevations of up to 800 m. It is characterized by numerous slender green stems and arching, finely fan-shaped leaves. It is particularly attractive when in fruit, with black fruits borne on bright red stalks.
