A very special palm native to the Chinese island of Hainan. Certainly one of the most suitable container palms. It is a beautiful palm for temperate, subtropical, and tropical areas. The fan leaves are deeply incised and resemble Rhapis excelsa, only much larger! It forms so-called tufts, small clusters with trunks that grow no higher than 4 m. Surprisingly, this palm is very rarely found in cultivation, probably because seeds are rarely available.
