A slender, single-stemmed palm whose trunk grows 2-10 m tall and measures only 3-5 cm in diameter. There are about 9 leaves in the crown, and the leaf sheaths are 30-50 cm long. They are densely woolly white and dotted throughout with brown, sometimes with an inconspicuous triangular appendage at the tip opposite the petiole. The petioles are 20-45 cm long and also densely woolly white and sparsely to moderately covered with brown, dot-like scales.
