The smallest of the three Dictyosperma species is native only to the tiny island of Round Island in the Indian Ocean, north of Mauritius. It has a short, stout trunk and a distinctive, pale crownshaft. The curved leaves have a bluish sheen and form a dense, full crown. The tips of the leaflets are connected by almost continuous pinnates running along the leaf margin, making this species instantly recognizable. Dictyosperma album var. conjugatum grows rather slowly but steadily in a sunny location and, with sufficient water and fertilizer, thrives in tropical, subtropical, and some warm-temperate regions. It also tolerates drought better than the other Dictyosperma species native to the larger Mascarene Islands.
