A beautiful, rather small palm from the rainforests of New Britain Island in the Bismarck Archipelago, with a slender, solitary trunk and an open crown of elegantly curved, light green leaves with triangular leaflets. One of the remarkable mountain palms of New Guinea, adapted to cool cloud forests at altitudes up to 2,800 meters. Spectacular reddish-bronze new leaves emerge from the gray-scaled crownshaft. Requires relatively cool temperatures year-round (15–22 °C). Unfortunately, this beauty is rarely found in cultivation and is not even represented in major botanical gardens worldwide.
